Ottar Ness


Ottar Ness describes first coming to witness narrative practice in early years of 2000 by Dr. Rolf Sundet and Geir Lunby while traning to be a family therapist. After completing his family therapy traning he has worked as a family therapist and mediator at the Family Therapy Centre of SouthTrondelag, Norway.

In 2007 he got very interested in therapist training and in 2011 he completed a PhD from the Taos Institute/Tilburg University on how therapists learn new ideas and practices together. Then he now is an associate professor at Buskerud University College working with Collaborative action research within the field of mental health and substance abuse.

He lives in Vikhammer, close to Trondheim in Norway with his wife and two girls. When he is not reading, teaching, doing therapy, writing or researching, he loves to kayak and hiking with his friends and family. Also he is a very big soccer fan of Rosenborg Football Club and Arsenal Football Club.
